Pros

  • Good sound quality
  • Stylish looks
  • Stays in during workout/running sessions
  • Very good control interface
  • Affordable Price Point

Cons

  • Thin headphone wire connection
  • Bluetooth Connection issues

The Avantalk Jogger is the company’s third  product in a line of Bluetooth stereo headsets. The jogger as it’s name aptly suggests is designed for the active user and aims to give good quality sound without falling out of your ears. Providing a Bluetooth service, the Jogger looks to stop those pesky wires from interfering with your workout routine. So does it have the legs for a marathon or will it fall short of the finishing line?

In large parts we’re very impressed with the Joggers, it’s got a great looking design with a matte rubber feel and a Bumblebee Transformer yellow rim around the outside. The buttons are great to press and have a welcome click feel to them. It comes with many useful features that are not hard to access like a skip, rewind and play track buttons on one side and a volume up and down on the other. It’s an intuitive interface which when incorporated with a voice dial enabled phone, is very much a fully featured Bluetooth device.

We like that the small form factor doesn’t compromise the battery or sound quality either. The battery will last you a good 8 hours on a full charge for music playback and a good 9 hours of talk time which is surprising considering the size of the product. It charges via a USB to With regards to sound, it had a surprisingly high volume ceiling, strong bass and a clear Treble that did not distort even at higher volume ranges. We did notice that the mid-range was a little muddy but overall the sound quality was good. Also at a light 23g, it’s practically weightless.

One thing that worries us is the wire connection connecting the earpieces, there’s no supporting joint and in my personal experience, these tend to be the weakest links in most earphone pieces. Hopefully they should hold out but just in case not, you might want to do your own little DIY reinforcing to make sure they don’t come loose. That said Avantalk do provide a nice silvery grey pouch to store your earphones as well as two sets of rather large ear plugs to use on the earphones. They’re unnervingly large but after a while you do get used to them and they do a good job of holding the Joggers tightly in your ear without being painful or uncomfortable.

We did have some issues connecting the headset to our iPhone 3GS as we kept having to re-pair the device every time to use it. That said, when it did connect, we never experienced any drops or stutters which is common for such Bluetooth devices.

We can conclusively say that we were impressed with the Joggers and despite a few minor flaws, is one of the best stereo Bluetooth headsets on the market for it’s price point.

The Avantalk Jogger is available for $49.99 from Avantalk.

Yeah definitely, I’ve been running with them a few times and they haven’t even budged once… the deep earbuds definitely make it hold onto the ear really well …

The Bluetooth connection is ok, just tested it :)

After connect Jogger with iPhone 4

    1. Turn off the Jogger, then turn it on, it will be automatically connect with iPhone 4

    2. Turn off the Bluetooth function in iPhone 4, then turn the bluetooth on, only Tap Avantalk Jogger in the list once , then connection is finished. OR press Multi-function button once or twice, connection will be finished.

    3. Keep both on, far away 10m between both, the connection will be disconnected. Keep in 10m again, both will be connected up automatically.

As mentioned in the review, when it works it works great but it does have reliability issues. That said, it’s still a good pair of headphones
