The Behance Action Journal aims to bring the “Action Method” way of doing things to your everyday life. They have a range of paper products ranging from small notepads to pocket books and even an entire range of digital products with an iPhone app and an online companion. Behance have kindly sent us of their biggest sellers, the Action Journal for review.
The Action Method is a radical approach to productivity and product management. The aim is to break down whatever you’re doing into smaller digestible parts. More information regarding the methodology and how it works is better explained at their Metholodology page so definitely go there for a more detailed explanation. Behance have incorporated the Action Method into the Action Journal through a dedicated three part column on the right hand page. It’s broken down into References, Action Steps and Backburner in a clear and particularly handy way. It’s funny how just having the column on the page makes all the difference when taking notes. It’s very easy to break tasks up and flicking through the pages, the Backburner box at the end is a very handy navigational tool for those heavy notebook users.
The pages are perforated which is a plus and rather than conventional writing lines on the page, the page is filled with dots. At first it was a little odd to get used to but after a while, it really complements note-taking well, allowing you to write straight along the dots or to more accurately illustrate diagrams. Binding in the pages is superb and opening the notebook to any page doesn’t give that resistance that poor binding can give you. There’s a handy pocket at the back for any loose pieces of paper and the strap that holds the journal closed is bright and effortless to use. Personally I use the journal inside the Quiver holder and together they make a fantastic combination.
The Behance Action Journal is one of the best note taking books out there on the market. The Action Method methodology works extremely well and we’d personally recommend it over it’s similarly classed Moleskine, Rhodia and Quo Vadis notebooks.
The Action Journal is available for $15 from BehanceOutfitter.
