The infamous music video that made this 13 year old an overnight internet sensation has been taken down by it’s record label, Ark Music Factory. Rebecca Black’s “Friday” racked up an impressive total of 64 million YouTube views in the past month alone, in which 99% of the votes were dislikes. In fact Rebecca Black’s music video now stands as the most disliked video ever on the video broadcasting site at an astounding 1.162 million dislikes. Just a piece of trivia for you but the second most hated video of all time happens to be Justin Bieber’s “Baby” standing at 1.163 million dislikes however the 600,000 or so likes certainly helps to balance the figure.
You’ve got to feel sorry for her as she’s clearly someone whose been taken advantage of for the gains of this record label. Whether you love or loathe the song, it’s certainly gained publicity and for better or for worse has brought this record company into the limelight.
The single is still on sale from iTunes but lord knows why you’d actually want to buy tripe like this.
UPDATE (30/3/11): It’s being reported that it was only down for 3 hours but at the moment it’s still down in the UK. We’ll keep this posted
UPDATE (30/3/11): It seems that after all that, the video really is back up online. Still, it maintain that rare title of being the most hated video online. According to Arc Music Factory’s owner Patrice Wilson, the video went down because his YouTube account got hacked but now everything is back up and is “all good”.
UPDATE (17/06/2011): Well now the video is down again but for entirely different reasons. Rebecca Black is currently in dispute with her record label, Arc Music Factory, over who owns her image rights. The label or Rebecca Black herself. Crazy no? Either way she’s filed a take down notice to YouTube for the infringement and it’s subsequently disappeared from YouTube.
