We’ve previously reviewed SteelSeries products and have been very impressed with them. Their reputation as one of the best gaming hardware manufacturers is known to gamers everywhere. When you think gamer tools, the first things that jump to mind are usual keyboards and mice. Whilst they’re undeniably crucial, many people forget the importance of a good gaming surface or mouse mat to play on. Without this, you’re simply not using the full potential of that expensive mouse you’ve just bought. SteelSeries have available an excellent range of professional gaming surfaces that range from small pads all the way up to the QcK+, their largest available surface.

Here’s what we thought of the SteelSeries QcK+ Gaming Surface.

SteelSeries QcK+
SteelSeries QcK+-1
SteelSeries QcK+-2

Style

The Qck+ features a no nonsense all black design that’s sleek and professional. The all black design is broken up nicely by the awesome SteelSeries logo in the bottom left hand corner and whilst is clear, the branding isn’t in your face.

Despite having unprotected borders, the surface manages to retain it’s shape and style without any of the fraying that we normally see on the cheaper low quality mouse mats. The big selling point, quite literally, of the Qck+ is it’s sheer size. Measuring at 45cm x 40cm, it’s big enough to occupy more than enough space for your mouse as well as any notably accessories you’d like to keep on the mat. It’s 2mm in thickness but that’s about standard for cloth made mouse mats.

Whilst it’s big and bold and looks good, we did however notice that the QcK+ did attract quite a bit of lint. It is though made of cloth, so that is perhaps not too surprising.

You’re not likely to need a surface as large as the QcK+ but hell, it’s always nice not having to worry about the limits of where your mouse can travel right?

Performance

Covering the Qck+ is a layer of cloth. It’s very high quality, smooth and just what you want in a gaming surface. We used a range of mice on it from an older microsoft track and ball mouse all the way up to our R.A.T 7 gaming mouse and the surface performed brilliantly across all models. There were no problems with tracking detection on any of our models and movement was smooth and consistent. The QcK+ didn’t even wrinkle under deliberate heavy usage.

Of course we can’t tell just how the QcK+ will do over time but like the rest of SteelSeries’ products, we’re confident that the QcK+ could easily withstand the test of time.

Conclusion

At this price point, you really can’t go wrong with the QcK+ Gaming Surface. It’s large enough to cover a good portion of any desk, high enough quality for even the best of professional gamers and well if it’s good enough for them, then it’s good enough for me.

The SteelSeries QcK+ Gaming Surface Review is available for €14.99 from SteelSeries.

On the durability thing, bought mine last September, looks (apart from a small chocolate stain lol) and functions the same as when I first bought it.

Awesome, you get the same model as mine? SteelSeries are always awesome =]

Yeah, it’s pretty big. It can cover the studio XPS 16 keyboard. I usually only need to use the left side of it, the right side is normally where my phone and iPod go.

Ditto … Only use left side … Right is for my iPad =]
