Over the last week or so, many of you will have heard of the leaked iPad 2 beta jailbreak for iOS 4.3. This rather accidental release of the jailbreak has meant that it’s creator @comex has had to speed up the process of releasing the full version to the masses before Apple has a chance to patch up the exploit. And now it’s finally here.
The jailbreak works on the same jailbreakme.com exploit from last August and it looks like the jailbreak team has done it again with a quick and easy solution to jailbreak your iPad straight from the Safari browser.
How do I Jailbreak my iPad?
- Visit jailbreakme.com on your iPad via Safari.
- Tap on Free on the left hand side and then Install when it pops up.
- Safari will then close and the Cydia icon will appear and start downloading.
- Once that’s done, your iPad is fully jailbroken!
What do I need?
This jailbreak is currently for the iPad 1st gen and the iPad 2. The only condition is that it must be running on the latest 4.3.3 firmware. As always before you upgrade, you should always save your SHSH blobs via TinyUmbrella just in case something goes wrong. It’ll allow you to downgrade if for any reason you want to, and you can Google those instructions. You should as never know with these things and it’s probably best to err on the side of caution. That said, I’ve done this twice now and haven’t had any issues.
At the moment, comex says that versions lower than 4.3.3 aren’t supported but that’s because he’s had to rush the jailbreak with it’s accidental release last week. This may change in future but really there’s no more reason to not upgrade to 4.3.3 anymore.
Just in case you need to check your version number too, it can be found in Settings > General > About.
Happy jailbreaking!
Note: We do not accept responsibility for any problems or issues with the jailbreak, please address queries for the jailbreak to the jailbreak team.
