Samsung have reported sales of 300 million mobiles thus far this year, beating last year’s record by 20 million sales. According to the firm, the increase comes courtesy of their popular Galaxy S line, which includes the Galaxy S and Galaxy SII.
The Galaxy SII has been a particular success, with the company reporting 10 million unit sales earlier this year — that number is likely to be far surpassed now, as the Galaxy S2 has aged well and continues to be one of the most popular Android handsets.
The news is further confirmation of Samsung’s status as the leading Android handset manufacturer. With HTC lacking a powerful phone in Europe and LG increasingly falling by the wayside, Samsung have done well to raise their market share and secure the Galaxy Nexus contract with Google.
As the Galaxy family continues to expand, it’ll be up to Samsung to push consumers towards the upper range of their Galaxy line, including the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note and upcoming Galaxy SIII. If they can continue their success in the increasingly crowded Android market, expect them to become a long-standing dynasty.
