Futurists will have been salivating at the sight of the Samsung Smart Window at CES 2012. Looking like a prop out of Minority Report, the Smart Window showed off an impressive implementation of touchscreen technology on top of a seemingly ordinary pane of glass. Everything from checking your Twitter feed to finding out the weather, the Smart Window showed off an impressive array of abilities and suitably won much acclaim in the tech press.
Clearly, this type of technology is what we should be expecting to see in the future. The Iron Man idea of a home where embedded technologies are seemlessly built into our constant surroundings breaking down the barrier between real life and ubiquitous computing looks closer than ever to becoming real.
Perhaps what was most impressive about the demo was that it was an actual working product and not encased behind thick glass like the crown jewels.
