Mathmos Air Switch Product Review

Posted by The Shogun on 24 Jan 2011 / 0 Comment

The Mathmos Airswitch is a motion controlled table lamp that goes above and beyond what your average lamp should do, quite literally. It looks fantastic in a room and is very unique in it’s design. The Airswitch works by waving your hand horizontally above the lamp to turn it off and on and to change the brightness, you raise your hand up and down vertically above the lamp. It’s very clever and it works just as well.

The best way to view Glassless 3D TV .. or not ..

Posted by The Shogun on 18 Jan 2011 / 2 Comments

This year’s CES produced many improved products over last year’s line-up with glassless 3D TVs taking a little bit of a centre stage. Not to get too technical but the process of getting good glassless 3D is not just in the way the image is lined up or even a head tracking camera but also in the way the screen flickers and displays frames. Jonathan Post has a well .. interesting out take on this and well, just check the crazy video out.

Tech Restaurant – Inamo Soho

Posted by The Shogun on 13 Jan 2011 / 0 Comment

On Wardour street in Central London sitting amongst the many glamorous bars and restaurants is Inamo. A Japanese restaurant by nature but an innovative restaurant by design. What differentiates Inamo from the wealth of other Japanese restaurants in London is a rather unique interactive table system. Projectors in the ceiling project visuals onto the table which brings up all sorts of customization options for the customer. Through a track pad on the bottom right hand corner, you control the cursor which can be used to order food, change the design of the table, play games with people on the same table and watch a webcam of the kitchen.

John’s Phone Product Review: The Anti-Smartphone

Posted by The Shogun on 12 Jan 2011 / 2 Comments

Ever find yourself sick of hearing about what the latest smart phone can do? Ever wish you could go back to the simple days where a phone was just a phone and all you needed it for was to call? Well if you have, in steps John’s Phone. No it isn’t a phone I nicked from a guy called John but is in fact, claimed to be the world’s simplest phone and I’m inclined to agree. The only thing you can do with the phone is dial, call and hang up and that’s pretty much it. Forget having an app store, internet or even texting, this phone will do all of none of these things.

Steve Jobs’ Salary: $1 a Year …

Posted by The Shogun on 12 Jan 2011 / 0 Comment

Steve Job’s salary has stood at $1 for the past ten years and continues to stay at this level. However don’t think that he’s doing his work for free as he holds 5.5 million shares of Apple Stock worth a total of roughly $1.8 billion. The $1 salary is symbolic of the confidence Jobs has in the company that all of his takings comes from the shares he holds. Since he rejoined the company in 1997, Steve Jobs has never sold any of his shares and maintains 138 million shares in Disney. Just from the Pixar Disney deal, it’s reported that Jobs took in an astounding $55 million dollars in dividends last year.

Chumby One Product Review

Posted by The Shogun on 06 Jan 2011 / 0 Comment

What is the Chumby One? Well it’s quite hard to describe what the point of one of these devices actually is. At it’s basic level, it’s basically an alarm clock with a built in FM-radio, however with the help of it’s vast library of apps the Chumby One turns into an RSS reader, displays your Twitter and Facebook feeds, is a customizable photo frame, displays the latest breaking news, turns into a games device, an internet radio streamer, a YouTube player and becomes a Susan Boyle bobblehead to name but a few of the very many functions this device can do

VeeBeam HD Product Review – 1080p Wireless Streaming

Posted by The Shogun on 04 Jan 2011 / 0 Comment

Streaming from laptops to HDTVs has become a lot more prevalent in the last year with more options now available to consumers. You can either stream content directly through a HDMI cable (which I might add is epicly overpriced by highstreet retailers) or you could do so wirelessly. The VeeBeam HD has but one single purpose and that is to stream your content upto to 1080p from your laptop to your TV.
